Another day, another match and another World Cup. Yes, I know it was just a practice game but what in the heaven’s name was Sehwag trying to do? Did I mention Another Duck? Are his days numbered?

Another day, another event, though this one was very special. Only for the second time from India (and historically the fifth time ever) was the Nasdaq Opening Bell rung remotely and this time yours truly not only witnessed the entire event but also worked on the team that pulled it off.

It was a jaw-dropping display of technology to see images from an event that one is at, being displayed live on the huge LCD screen that forms the façade of the NASDAQ building and the Reuters building in NYC. At precisely  7:45PM  a couple of evenings ago, one of Nasdaq’s VP’s walked on stage and said ‘Good Morning New York and Good Evening India’ and we were well and truly on our way!

My client’s entire senior management stood on stage in Chennai and waved at various gawkers and homeless people on Broadway (who else would be out at 9:30am?) and much merriment was had by all. As if that wasn’t enough, my real rush came when one of the Nasdaq show-producers who was on a clearcom with the rest of us, kept rattling off what channels across the world were picking up our feed and beaming it live. I kid you not - when you hear things like ‘CNBC USA is beaming us live / Bloomberg just picked us up / BBC World is on / CNBC India is beaming live’ etc etc - it is the most incredible feeling in the whole world.

The only thought that kept going through my head was if I streaked NOW, the business commnunity across the world AND not to mention Broadway, would see my best side. Heh heh.

Live Tv … what a rush! Gotta luv it! Pics on Riggy Sights soon!

Faced an occupational hazard and went to bed after being awake 48 hours - between two women! I KNOW that hasn’t happened to me in a very long time. One of them had an early flight and left before I woke up which meant I woke up next to a woman I had never slept with (hehe) before. Delicious, I kid you not. I don’t think she knows I have a blog and I doubt she’ll ever read this so I know I won’t be killed heh heh.

I then had to visit my father who’s in the hospital post a small surgery. Now I stay 3 kms away from the hospital and no auto-wallah wanted to take me home so I did the next best thing - hopped onto an honest to God RTC bus, something I haven’t done in many, many years. It even cost me all of 4 bucks! I even ‘footboarded’ for most of the journey and its as much fun as I will ever have in a vehicle that big.

I then came home and turned the telly on and subjected myself to some CNN-IBN. If Rajdeep Sardesai and his band of merry men (and women) had a buck everytime they said ‘exclusively to CNN-IBN’ on air they would make many bucks on any given day. What the heck does that mean anyhoo?

CNN-IBN put on The Colonel on the mat by airing his interview (exclusively to CNN-IBN) that made somewhat of a mockery of the Indian selection process. It would appear that our very own Dravidian has incredible powers of persuasion and ensured Sehwag was on the World Cup bus even though our selectors wanted none of it. I think VVS needs to spend more time with RD to make sure he gets some more time in the middle.

Finally ended the evening’s entertainment by watching the dada on a program called Being Sourav Ganguly. It’s amazing how much the man has mellowed and turned into this outstanding human being. The arrogance that was synonymous with the man seems to be a thing of the past and the Dada has become a case-study for all those motivational speakers out there. My favourite part of the interview - when asked if he was a ‘good bad boy’ or a ‘bad good boy’ he simply said ‘I am a boy’. Very cool, Mr. G. More power to you.

    More later.

Speaking of well-made advertisements, the People Group has come up with a winner in my humble, non-expert opinion.

It’s for Fropper - not a very popular site, relatively speaking. And as far as networking sites go, not known to have much ’staying power’. But here you go - makes for a good laugh:
